We enjoy our bushland settings and after having another self-contained holiday rental property in Hepburn Springs for over 10 years we decided to do the tree change and relocated from Melbourne to Moonlight Flat. After settling in at Moonlight Flat and enjoying the peacefulness of the bushland settings at the property, we wanted others to enjoy the area we love.
We decided to renovate our house with various natural materials such as recycled oregon beams and restoring mud brick walls to create a self-contained Villa which has a private entrance to the cosy get away which has a heating/cooling split system. The property operates on tank water with a worm composting system as we try and minimise our impact on the environment. We created a bedroom for guests which we believe is a calm space that will hopefully encourage a peaceful night’s sleep. The rest of the Villa is made up of two areas a bathroom which has a walk-in shower and an open plan lounge area which has a smart TV and a fully self-contained kitchen with a bench area to eat meals. To try and help guests to release stress and tension we have installed a cedar barrel sauna on the undercover veranda. There is a separate studio on the property which has a small games area and gym.
We hope guests enjoy the Villa we have created and leave Moonlight Rest feeling rested, with a still mind and happy heart.
A cosy and welcoming home it is well suited to many travellers and those looking for a lovely Australian setting.
A fabulous six-person hot tub on the back deck looks out onto private bushland where if you are lucky, you may spot a beautiful resident Wallaby, Echidna or Kookaburra.
A bright cathedral style house with beautiful polished floorboards, an internal spa bath, and flexible bedding, it is a versatile property ideal for a couples weekend escape, girls weekend away, or simply time away with the kids. Backing onto the golf course, and only a short walk to a great selection of cafe’s, wine bars, restaurants, spas and shops in Hepburn Springs, you can explore this beautiful region on foot, or jump in the car and in moments be on the main street of Daylesford.
Stay in and make the most of the great facilities, listen to the birds, and spot an abundance of Australian wildlife, or use the property as a great springboard to explore the region or the greater area and discover some of the wonderful towns and hamlets dotted throughout the landscape.
